Executive Profiles

Herbert (Herb) Leuprecht, Chairman of the Board
Born and raised in Austria, Herb grew up in the hotel business and was educated in European hotel and culinary schools. After working in Switzerland and at his family’s two hotels in Austria he started his North American career in Montreal, Canada with Hilton International. Soon thereafter, Herb was recruited to work in Montana, becoming a hotel partner in 1975, and has been involved as an owner, builder, and investor in hotels since that time. He has served on several boards including the Board of Directors of Best Western International. Herb served for five years as Chairman of the Montana Workman’s Compensation State Fund. Herb is also active in many organizations in Butte as well as in other Montana communities. He is respected throughout the state as a soft-spoken executive who finds opportunities and is able to pull together the necessary resources to generate successful outcomes. Herb has a unique ability to unite people through leadership and the tenacity to fight for those he represents and advises. Herb’s success can be attributed to his experience, visionary outlook and employment of proven work principles and ethics.


Larry McRae, CEO
A third generation Montanan, Larry has owned or operated hotels around the United States for more than four decades including brands such as Western International, Sheraton, Ramada, Howard Johnson, LaQuinta and Best Western and including regional management of multiple hotels. His expertise includes successful operations of food and beverage operations, turnarounds of distressed properties, renovations and new construction. He has held executive positions with Helmsley Spear Management Company and LaQuinta Motor Inns. Larry has served on numerous professional boards, including many in the hospitality industry, Norwest Bank of Kalispell and Best Western International, where he was elected as Chairman of the Board for the years 2004-2005


Mike Johnson, President
Mike was appointed President of Management Consultants in 2011 and assumed the responsibilities of daily management, as well as leading the growth and development of the organization. Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Montana Tech in Business Administration. In 1997 he was awarded an MBA from the University of Montana (U of M) and in 2012 the U of M conferred Mike a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.

Mike brings more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in the utility industry, the utility-services sector, non-profit foundations, and higher education. Mike began his professional career with the Montana Power Company, culminating his responsibilities as President and CEO of a utility-services subsidiary, One Call Locators (later named ELM Locating). After leaving the utility services company, Mike joined the faculty of Montana Tech serving as a professor of Business Administration. Two years after entering the faculty Mike was appointed Vice Chancellor of Development and Student Services and President of the Montana Tech Foundation.


Jackie Neumann, CFO
Jackie Neumann has been employed by Management Consultants, Inc. for the past 20 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology/Accounting from Montana Tech of the University of Montana and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. She specializes in hotel accounting and management and strives to provide strong financial controls and in-depth reporting. Her experience includes working with franchises such as Best Western, Wyndham and Hilton, as well as with independent properties.


Lucy Weeder, VP of Operations, Western Region
Lucy is a native Montanan who began her career in hospitality in high school, when she worked as a housekeeper at a hotel in her hometown. Over the course of her professional career she has worked in the medical and dental industry, food and beverage operations and hospitality management, but never straying from fields where she could further her enthusiasm for excellence in customer care. Lucy’s experience with the Best Western brand began in 1984 at the Best Western Heritage Inn in Great Falls, Montana where she worked for nearly seventeen years, ensuring operational excellence at a busy 200+ room property with a thriving convention space. In 2001 she accepted the position of General Manager at the Best Western Plus Grant Creek Inn in Missoula, where she remains today, while also acting as Vice President of Operations for Management Consultant’s Western Region. Lucy has continued her education over the course of her career, from her work in Human Services at Flathead Community College, to maintaining her Certified Hospitality Administrator since 1999.

Lucy has won numerous awards and recognitions in her field, from the 1996 Outstanding Graduate Award from the Education Institute of American Hotel and Motel Association, to the Best Western GM of the year in 2010. She is active in community and hospitality legislation efforts, serving as the current Board President of the Missoula TBID, as well as serving on the Montana Lodging and Hospitality board from 2001 to 2013. In addition, Lucy sits on the current board of Destination Missoula, and is the Best Western Governor for her region.


Kami Johnson, VP of Operations, Central Region
Kami is a native Montanan who began her career in hospitality in college, when she worked as a banquet waitress at a convention hotel. Over the course of her professional career she has worked in the employment industry, food and beverage operations and hospitality management. Kami’s experience with the Best Western brand began in 1989 at the Best Western War Bonnet Inn moving in 1990 to the Best Western Butte Plaza Inn in Butte, Montana where she worked for five years managing the lounge operations while working as an employment specialist at Express Personnel Services. In 1994 she purchased the Express Personnel Franchise which she operated until selling the Franchise in 2000. From 2000 until 2007 Kami worked as a consultant while staying at home with her children until school age. Kami was hired as the general manager of the Best Western Plus Butte Plaza Inn in 2007 where she continues today as the Vice President of Operations, Central Region for Management Consultants, Inc.


Bryce Baker, Vice President of Operations, Eastern Region
Bryce is a native Montanan who began his career in hospitality in his hometown of Bozeman, MT. Bryce joined our team February of 2012 and was tasked with the opening of the Best Western Golden Prairie Inn & Suites in Sidney, MT. This new project is in the heart of the Bakken Oilfield and is in the same vicinity of the two Independent hotels, Richland Inn & Suites, Lone Tree Inn. In August 2013 Bryce took over the direct management of the 3 hotels in Sidney, MT.

Bryce has a substantial background in hotel operations, from working up through the ranks at the Wingate by Wyndham in Bozeman, MT, to managing a full service 231 room convention hotel (Best Western Plus Heritage Inn in Great Falls, MT).
